peacekeepers needed in Somalia: AU

The United Nations should send peacekeepers to Somalia urgently
to stop the strife that is fuelling piracy and is being
aggravated by feuding politicians, the African Union's top
diplomat said on Thursday.

concern for officials at Kenya's Mombasa port, who fear it
will push up the cost of goods and may deter some importers
from bringing cargoes to the region. |

- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)
received on Wednesday a contribution of US$ 3.1 million
(2 million Euro) from the Italian Government to help provide
emergency support to communities facing drought and high
food prices.
