Arab league opens headquarter
in Mogadishu

ADDIS ABEBA(August 12,2008) - The Arab league organization has opened its main office in the Somali capital Mogadishu a Somali online media reported citing an official.

Ibrahim Shuweymi the Arab league representative to Somalia told Mareeg online that their office of Somalia was unlocked where the AL work will be performed.

"Arab league officials will arrive after some days, and they will begin their work in Mogadishu", the report quoted Shuweymi as having said in an interview by phone from Somewhere in Mogadishu.

Asked about the security situation in Somalia and he they can work in he said that there wouldn't be anyone that would make target Arabian diplomat, the report said.

He called for Somalis to come together to make their country safe after 18 yrs of deadly civil wars that destroyed the horn of Africa nation, the online added.
