young Ethiopians with innovative business ideas

ABEBA(July 12 - 13,2008) - The Engineering Capacity
Building Program (ecbp) on Thursday said it was to help young enterpreaunres
realize their business ambitions with financial support.
This was revealed at a launch of a pilot project with the objective
of equipping Ethiopian young entrepreneurs with the theoretical background
and essential skills on the practical aspects preparing their innovative
business plans to translate in to practice.
In this respect, the program has the potential to earn participants
the start-up 50,000 euros towards realizing their business plan.
The whole idea is to encourage country's young entrepreneurs to contribute
to the country's development by turning their vision in to reality,
ecbp officials told reporters at a press conference at the program's
headquarters.
The project contributes to ecbp's objective of capacity building and
job creation, said a senior consulting partner with ecbp, Nebil Kellow.
He said the money provided for the project was funded by a German
businessman.
"From the applicants 20 participants will be chosen for the training,
after which a private investor, Felix Ahlers from Germany, will provide
up to 50,000 euros towards the start up of the best prepared and most
feasible business plans," said Nebil.
"The investor has the possibility to work with a group of talented
potential entrepreneurs in order to find out where to invest his money,"
the consultant said stating the training was scheduled to take place
in October this year.
Felix Ahlers who holds MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management
in Chicago would give the training designed to train and guide potential
participants on business plan development
Nebil said the training entitled Business Plan Training program, will
instruct participants on business plan development using the method
of the Kellogg School which is accustomed by the investor and the
instructor in this case.
"This involves real business cases including the participants'
actual business ideas which will be developed into proper business
plans," he said
According to ecbp young Ethiopian entrepreneurs with a university
degree or 3-5 years of working experience in business and a draft
business plan are eligible to apply for the training.
Applications will be accepted from 1st of July 2008 through the 31st
of July.
ecbp is an Ethiopian program established under the Ministry of Capacity
Building with the support of the German government working towards
creating employment opportunities for students through reform of University's
faculties of technology, TVET reform, among others.
